How do PMs stay relevant when everything changes fast?

With technology accelerating and innovation in each space changing so fast, how do you stay relevant?

Which articles do you read, which books do you refer back to, which conferences do you attend? But more importantly — have you created any system that automatically curates the relevant topics? There is so much to read that the backlog just increases.

The real question is not "what should I read" but "how do I build a system that keeps me current without drowning in content?"

framing error: The assumption is that consuming more information leads to better decisions. The bigger challenge is filtering for relevance and deliberately applying what you learn, not maximizing how much you read.

sharper frame: The goal isn't to stay current with everything—it's to build a repeatable system that surfaces high-signal information aligned with your role, validates it through practice, and regularly removes low-value sources.

I've found that limiting myself to a small set of trusted newsletters, customer conversations, and product postmortems provides more value than following dozens of sources. Reviewing what changed my thinking each week helps convert information into better product decisions rather than accumulating unread content.
